Summer Loving

“What will I be able to eat at the party? ”


“I can workout longer when I get home if I eat too much.”


“I’ll skip breakfast and lunch so I can eat when I am there and not stress out.”


These are the inner conversations that I would regularly give into before going anywhere social, especially in the summer.


And the truth is, sometimes I still have these conversations. 


But I don’t give into them the way I used to.


In fact, they really don’t control me anymore. 


I went to a party this weekend and on the drive home, it struck me that I hadn’t given any space to those voices before leaving.


I had fun, ate what I wanted, felt good in my body and confident in my presence.


I realized how far I’ve come on this path of recovery.


It honestly kind of blows my mind.


I tell you this because I want you to know that freedom from this IS possible.


It’s not always easy, but if you find the right formula for you, you can have it.


I really don’t talk too much about my relationship with food or my past with an eating disorder anymore.


So many people preach on the subject, and I prefer to leave it to the truly qualified.


But when my business client Kelley Nemiro, expert hormone and pilates teacher, asked me if I’d like to co-lead a program that fosters healthy conversation about body image and food and the pressures of summer, it was an easy yes.
