Are You Overwhelmed?

Here’s the truth: I have A LOT on my plate.

I am juggling my growing business, holding space for my clients, I am a wife, a friend, and - most importantly - I’m a mama.

It could be easy for me to fall into the trap of mom guilt, because there are so many different moving pieces that HAVE to be taken care of, and I don’t always feel like I can do it all, let alone do it all well.

So in order to avoid feeling guilty for being human, I have to ask for and allow myself to receive support.

Because I know that if I’m supposed to take care of all these people, I have to first take care of myself.

But why is that so hard sometimes?

We all know that in order to support the people who need us, we also need to be supported.

And yet we never quite feel supported.

Here’s a secret: in order to feel supported, we have to learn to let people support us.

That’s right…it’s a skill we need to learn.

And sometimes that can be really hard.

Especially when it feels like the world is on our shoulders and we can’t put one thing down for even a single second.

The truth is, when we are trying to prioritize everything, we are actually prioritizing nothing.

I know that might hurt to hear, but I also know we need to hear it.

Because in order to do anything well, we first have to prioritize ourselves.

When we show up for ourselves, our nervous system starts to relax.

And when our nervous system is relaxed, we are able to see different possibilities. Our imagination gets expanded and we can calmly find solutions instead of getting paralyzed in overwhelm.

And that allows us to show up for other people and things in a way that is supportive for them and us.

And ultimately a great life is one that you are able to not only show up for others, but also for yourself. Everyone wins.

I believe in this so much that I created a program that not only teaches you how to do it, it also teaches you how to LIVE it.

SHIFT is my intimate, immersive group coaching program for women who are ready to get unstuck and step into a new, empowering story.

And in order to do so, you need that calm nervous system I was just talking about.

Which is why I am including Anxiety as one of the four pillars of SHIFT this year.

Because we are all operating from a place of overwhelm.

And that makes everything harder.

And I am here to show you it doesn’t have to be that way.

You can show up for yourself and others and it can feel good.

Actually, it can feel great.

We all deserve to have our nervous systems massaged, and that’s what I will teach you how to do in SHIFT.

SHIFT is designed to be the supportive home you have been searching for.

The home that will help you unwind from the limiting patterns and beliefs that have been blocking your greatness for years.

And the best part is:

SHIFT is the program that will help you create meaningful change that actually lasts…in all areas of your life.

SHIFT gives you a way to stay on a path to transformation, and that way is through intentional conversation, compassionate self-inquiry and a consistent meditation practice.

Yup, that thing I do Every. Single. Day. that I could use as fodder for guilt?

It’s what enables me to juggle everything I do, and still show up with a smile.

And here’s the truth:
My husband thanks me for prioritizing myself.

My friends thank me for prioritizing myself.

My parents thank me for prioritizing myself.

The people I work with thank me for prioritizing myself (and for showing them how to do the same).

And I am certain that when he gets old enough to understand, Porter will thank me for prioritizing myself and for giving him permission to do so for himself.

This is because the work I do for myself is what saves me and everyone around me.

So it has become my absolute non-negotiable.

In fact, I am so committed to my practice that I’ve done it on a plane, I’ve done it in a cab, I’ve done it from a bathroom stall…

Because I know it connects me to the greatest version of myself and enables me to pull that version into reality.

It helps me distill anger, frustration, sadness, and fear. It helps me find clarity and presence.

It helps me show up as a better, more patient and understanding mother.

One who is in constant remembrance of that is my son.

And the miracle I am as a mama.

One who can balance ALL of those very intense demands and still stay calm and centered and capable.

Of course, there’s more to this story, and there’s more to creating a powerful and beautiful relationship (be it motherhood, partnership, family, friendship or career).

Holding space for you
